SUZUKA SUNDAY ROADRACE ROUND.4 "Suzuka 4 Hours Endurance Race"

Synergy Force MORIWAKI Club

Jul 25(Sat) - RACE

Jul 25(Sat)-Ending the summer of 2015 with a better finish than last year.

Race day of 2015 Suzuka Kinki Championship Series Round 4 Suzuka 4 Hours Race a prelude to Suzuka 8 Hours Race had begun. From Synergy Force MORIWAKI Club, as a 1st rider substite for Melissa, Avalon Biddle and 2nd rider Shelina Moreda challenged to fight together for the race.

The race began strictly on 9:00 am. Avalon served as the starting rider and she clears the first lap without any problems however, in the first half of her stint there were situations that safety cars had to come in. Therefore Avalon went 24 laps which is more than her scheduled laps and finally comes into for a pit stop to switch riders. Grabbing the baton from Avalon, Shelina shows intense riding from the beginning until she suffers from severe pain in the arms making it very hard for her to go the distance. The team immediately makes another plan and changes the balance of the distance with Avalon to cover Shelina. Avalon did just that with her consistency and makes progress throughout the race with lapping the time of 2.24 seconds line and her riding just gets better and better every time she got on the bike. With 6 pit stops all together, finishing above the position from last year, the race ended in 26th position.

Synergy Force MORIWAKI Club had gone through the second year with the FIM Women in Motorsports project. Thanks to everyone who has supported us from our main sponsor, Synergy Force Japan Co., LTD. a Japanese company who makes energy drinks, and all other sponsors that were involved in this project, we were able to finish this yearʼs race with success.

COMMENT:

We just finished the Suzuka 4 Hours Race with Synergy Force MORIWAKI Club and Iʼm so pumped right now. We did better than we did last year, there were more riders, there were faster riders here this year, we started out 51th and we finished 26th out of 78 teams. It was awesome! My times I smoked my times from last year so Iʼm super pumped on that. My teammate Avalon was amazing she rode SO well. Even with like little hang offs and everything we persevered and came out on top. I am so excited. I am really glad that FIM Women in Motorcycling has put together such an amazing opportunity for us and that we got Synergy Force and MORIWAKI backing us because, racing here in Suzuka is amazing I love Japan as it is but with a race like this is incredible Iʼm on cloud nine right now Iʼm so SO happy to be here.

I know that a lot of people are watching as racing here in Suzuka from the United States because thatʼs my home town. I want to say Hi to everybody and thank you guys because as you know, the lot of you cheer the faster I go. We did awesome here in Suzuka this weekend Iʼm so excited and it means a lot to me to have the support from the people back home no matter where I am racing at in the world. Thank you very much and Iʼll see you at the next one.

This is my second challenge in the Suzuka 4 Hours and I know itʼs a really tough race even to finish, but I look very much forward to doing the best we can.”

SUZUKA SUNDAY ROADRACE ROUND.4 "Suzuka 4 Hours Endurance Race"

Synergy Force MORIWAKI Club

Jul 24(Fri) - Official Practice (30min)・Qualifying

Jul 24(Fri)-Shelina and Avalon passes through qualifying. A hard chase will await for tomorrowʼs race.

A bright sun shine welcomes Suzuka from a gusty rain the day before. After a short free practice session, qualifying session for 2nd rider was about to start.

The bike was completely fixed from the crash the day before. From Synergy Force MORIWAKI Club, Shelina went out to the track first to check the feel of the bike and instantly closes the time to her best lap time. On the other hand Avalon was also having a consistent run on her first session in dry condition. Last minute adjustments were made to the bike and on 1:05 PM the qualifying session for 2nd rider had started. Shelina went out on the track in this 20 minute session however, a red flag interrupted in the early session. 14 minutes to go, the session restarted and puts a lap time of 2.28.536 on the board.

Melissaʼs substitute, 1st rider, Avalon started her qualifying at 5:36 PM in the afternoon. She lapped consistently in the 2.25 seconds area and had her best time of 2.25.094 and ends her qualifying session. The qualifying format for Suzuka 4 Hours Race is set with the time added together from the 2 riders. Therefore the time will be 4.53.630 putting them in 51st qualifying position meaning it will be a hard chase race for tomorrow.
The team will be as one to challenge this event at one of the trickiest courses in the world, the Suzuka Circuit.

COMMENT:

“So, the four laps I got the morning for Free Practice was a hard one with a terrible traffic and I really didnʼt get to do much at all. But it was good that I did get some time on the bike, especially in the qualifying session in which I was able to feel the changes that Avalon had made and I was able to feel what those changes became. Itʼs awesome to working with Avalon because we try to balance everything together and we are able to come to agreements with a good understanding between each other. I really enjoy working with Avalon.
I am happy with my lap times today because it was consistent and I was up to my race times of last year though I did not quite hit the fastest. Avalon is going really fast in a short amount of time and I am happy to see that because it feels like we are very supportive with each other as team mates and its cool that we are able to be that way

COMMENT:

“I am definitely happy with the qualifying. The qualifying position is important of course but I think itʼs more important that we can ride a stead race and make it to the finish. It is my first endurance race but I am really looking forward for tomorrow, and I will stick to what the team wants to make sure I do it right.

I think Shelina is doing a great too and together I think we are making a good team and we are getting there to achieving what we want to achieve to impress everyone who are supporting this project.”

SUZUKA SUNDAY ROADRACE ROUND.4 "Suzuka 4 Hours Endurance Race"

Synergy Force MORIWAKI Club

Jul 23(Thu) - Official Practice (45min)

Jul 23(Thu)-DAY1. Official Practice (45min)

45 minutes ride out for an official practice session for today was held in a wet condition. Shelina Modera, who let her team mate, Avalon Biddle, ride for the whole session for a New Zealander to ride and learn the track.

Amazingly, it only took a few laps for Avalon to start pushing the bike and started to follow some of the local Japanese riders. The lap times started to get faster and faster until she found herself on gravel in turn one due to a sudden slip down from the front end while on the brakes.

Comments from the Rider

Shelina Moreda(USA)
COMMENT:

“Avalon is Fired. She crashed my motorcycle and I didnʼt get a chance to ride this morning. But the only redeeming factor is the that unlike Melissa did last year, broke my name off the bike, Avalon took both of our names off the bike, so maybe I will keep her around a little bit longer.

I am really actually very proud of her pushing the bike hard in the wet conditions on her first attempt here in Suzuka. I am really happy that she is pushing and learning the track for the race.”

NAME:
Avalon Biddle(NZ)
COMMENT:

“It was really good to have the opportunity to learn the Suzuka Circuit this morning on the CBR600RR, although the track was wet to begin with and got even wetter as the session went on. But I still really enjoyed it and I improved a lot throughout the session though I even fell on to the ground going into turn one at the end of the session. Well, things are looking good for tomorrow.

Also, I canʼt believe all of a sudden I am part of this big project and it has kicked off. Since I was aware of the “Women in Motorcyclism” project, and especially the big achievement Shelina and Melissa marked last year here in Suzuka, I look forward to enjoying and making the best out of this wonderful opportunity.”

SUZUKA SUNDAY ROADRACE ROUND.4 "Suzuka 4 Hours Endurance Race"

Synergy Force MORIWAKI Club

Jul 21(Tue)

Jul 21(Tue)
Melissa Paris Unwillingly Cancels the Ride in the Suzuka 4 Hours Endurance Race.
A “Kiwi” Now Joins “Synergy Force MORIWAKI Club” - Ms. AVALON BIDDLE.

Melissa Paris (USA), a very dedicated racer, who was registered to participate in the Suzuka 4 Hours Endurance Race, scheduled from the 23rd to the 25th July 2015, for “Synergy Force MORIWAKI Club”, is sick and was advised by a doctor not to have long flights nor to participate in the race events until she is fully recovered despite the American’s strong will to come back to Japan for her second challenge in the iconic race.

The team has agreed to accept the situation, although not having Melissa Paris for the event beside her co-rider, Shelina Moreda, is understandably a big disappointment; however, for the team, moving on with even higher motivation and passion is the only choice. Syergy Force MORIWAKI Club urgently searched a replacement rider and offered “Ms. Avalon Biddle (New Zealand)” who is currently participating in the European Junior Cup. The nineteen years old “Kiwi”, who received a surprising morning call is now preparing fast to fly to Japan to replace Melissa.

Comment from Melissa Paris:
“I am so disappointed that I cannot be well enough to return to Suzuka for the 4 Hours. I have been ill for a few weeks and although I have been trying everything I can think of to get better, it just seems to get worse. Finally today, the doctor has said that I am not fit to race. It's devastating news to me because I have been looking forward to this race for so long. My experience last year in Suzuka was amazing and I was looking forward to improving. I really would like to give a very big apology to Midori and all of our team members and sponsors as well as the FIM who have worked hard to put this together. I hate to let everyone down but at this point I would not be a very useful member of this team. I wish Moriwaki Synergy Force team the very best of luck and I will be cheering from home.”

Midori Morwiaki Comment:
“It was a very shocking news and I feel sorry for Melissa knowing the fact that we have been sharing the same passion and motivation toward the coming race. There are times we have to move on, but Synergy Force Moriwaki Club will not leave her behind, and will register her name as a back-up rider so that we will be together throughout the tough challenge.
I would also like to send my special thanks to FIM for giving us a hand in finding a replacement rider, Avalon Biddle, a talented female Newzealander who I am sure will fit perfectly in this project. I am sure Avalon is talented and experienced enough to be competitive in the race, and I appreciate her brave and instant decision to come to Japan and race with us. Welcome to Synergy Force MORIWAKI Club Avalon, and get well soon Melissa!”.

Comments from Avalon Biddle:
“Firstly I would like to say thank you to the FIM and Synergy Force MORIWAKI Club for what they are doing to spotlight women in motorcycling with opportunities like this. To endurance race at Suzuka is a true honour and something for females in our sport to look up to!
This will be my first time to Suzuka and the first endurance race so I have a lot to learn but coming from a successful season so far in the competitive European Junior Cup I feel ready to tackle the challenge.
I’m sorry however that Melissa is ill and can not make the race as she and Shelina did such a great job last year. They definitely set high standards for us to improve upon this year, but with such support behind us I just can’t wait to arrive in Japan and give it my best effort for the team.”

Synergy Force MORIWAKI Club

Jul 14(Tue)・Jul 15(Wed)-TEST

Jul 14(Tue)
-Testing for Suzuka 4 Hours Race Comes to an End
A Big Progress for Next Weekʼs Race!

Continuing from yesterday, the weather condition was good for Suzuka Circuit. Synergy Force MORIWAKI Club had planned a simulation for next weekʼs race. To top things off, Shelina Moreda tried many different setups to shorten the lap times. The mechanics have answered to her demands and give her the right advises to get the perfect set-ups.

In todayʼs practice sessions, a 50 minute sessions took place to for riders to simulate for the race, knowing that it is the last day of the test; there were traffic everywhere on the track. Even in this situation, Shelina had updated her time from last year showing her consistency in development. Unfortunately Melissa Paris could not come to the test therefore Shelina had done her best to setup to bike for her and Melissa.

Suzuka 4 Hours Race will finally begin next week. Endurance race is tough for riders of course but also for the mechanics and supporters. We, Synergy Force MORIWAKI Club, Shelina Moreda, and Melissa Paris will be as one to fight for the points.

Please have hope for Synergy Force MORIWAKI Club and this whole project!

COMMENT:

Once again, I would like to thank Synergy Force, Moriwaki and all those who are involved in this big project for letting me have this amazing opportunity.

As for the testing itself, I struggled with the suspension set-ups, and I spent most of the time trying to find the right direction. We set ourselves a lot of menu to test, and by the end of the day, we were able to get the right feel for us to start with for the coming race weekend! I canʼt wait!

I am also happy for the fact that I was able to set my personal best lap in day two, and I can tell that I am getting more used to the supersport 600 bikes. In addition, it is big to me that the mechanics will instantly understand and are able to share with me the problems, and come up with options to try next.

Midori (team director), and the mechanics are just great to work with, and I am so happy that I am more confident and excited after this meaningful test. I hope to see you all again in the Suzuka 4 Hours Race next week!

COMMENT:

I think that Shelina Moreda have made a big progress through these testing days. I feel very happy to be able to work with her as a same woman. In today's test, she updated her time from last year and I think this is because her physical and mental conditions are all going to the right direction of enrichment.

The team members and riders are all the same from last year however, this shows that everyone involved in this "Women in Motorcyclism" project had put such an enoumous effort from the past year. I would be much appriciated if you can see our changes and a challenge to achieve some points for the Suzuka 4 Hours Race including our sponsors, fans, and everyone who are involved in this big project. Thank you very much.

On a hot sunny day with temperatures raised to 28℃, track temperatures of 50℃ just like in the real race condition, the first practice session had begun. With no major problems, Melissa was able to finish the session very smooth. For tomorrow, we will be setting the bike more towards the race setting to for further simulation.

First of all I am very happy to be back to Suzuka with Moriwaki and Synergy Force.

On today's test, my goal was to get back down to my time last year as quickly as possible and the testing went smooth. We were also able to look to the right direction for settings. I am looking forward for tomorrowʼs test as well.

The bike set by Moriwaki is just perfect and it makes me want to push more to the limits. The team made a fantastic job so all I need to focus for tomorrow is to just cut down the times as fast as possible.

Lastly, I would like to thank Moriwaki and Synergy Force for lettimg me have this opportunity again this year.

Today, I was happy to see Shelina Moredaʼs practice session and just like last year, she has a steady pace and I am already looking forward for the race. It was a little unfortunate for Melissa however, we will be able to see her run as well next week.

Tomorrowʼs test will be the final day of testing. We are hoping to give a boost to “Women in Motorsports” project as a whole team.
